Ministry of Education keen to expand vocational training [Ethiopia]

Government officials intend to scale up state programmes for vocational training and education to a national level, after evaluating the technical and vocational education and training agency for Oromia, the largest state in Ethiopia.

According to agency director Teshome Lemma, 120,000 students are pursuing technical and vocational training in government and private institutions in the state. He said various activities have been carried out to expand technical and vocational education and training institutions in Oromia over the past nine moths with close to a 250 million birr (US$22.4 million) budget allocated by the Government.
